Tessa’s Top Tourist Spots

Hi, my name is Tessa Marshal. We met not so long ago on the pages of Desire and Deception. I want to share of few of the places I got to visit with Monica and Heather during my trip to Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. Mostly these are family oriented spots. There were a few clubs I visited, but as you read, that night didn’t go too well for me.

Paseo Santa Lucia

The Paseo is a canal that goes from Fundidora Park to the Museo de Historia Mexicana (Museum of Mexican History). You can take a boat ride, walk along the river, sit at a local restaurant, or rent a bike for a little exercise.

Cola de Caballo

Cola de Caballo waterfalls. This translates to “horse’s tail”. Yes, the waterfall does resemble a horse’s tail. Be warned, it’s about a mile walk from the entrance. By the time we made it to the top, with Heather complaining all the way, I was ready to stand in the mist and cool down. Turns out you can rent a horse or a buggy to get back and forth.

Grutas de Garcia

A cable car ride up Cerro del Fraile (Friar Mountain) gets you to the Grutas de Garcia, a series of amazing caves filled with stalactites and stalagmites. Take comfortable walking shoes because you’ll be led through nature’s fifty million year creation by tour guides. Just when you’re ready to call it quits, the man-made walkways reach the bottom of the mountain where you’ll find vendors selling all sorts of treats.

Cerro de la Silla

Cerro de la Silla, or Saddle Mountain, is Monterrey’s most recognizable icon. The metropolitan area surrounded this segment of the Sierra Madre, making for beautiful scenery. You can best appreciate the silhouette when the sun is coming up behind the mountain. Hopefully you’re cuddled up in a nice blanket with someone special.
